CHALLENGE 3: YOU INSPIRE ME!

On this week's episode, the 14 remaining designers arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art & were told they would be working in teams of 2. There were mannequins that were dressed in the work of fashion icons including Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, etc. The designers' challenge was to create a high-end signature look that would be fitting in the company of those fashion icons.

But wait…the following morning Tim gathered the teams together to inform them that they would be designing an additional look. This is important: The second look was to be derived from the high-end look of another team. They were told not to copy the look exactly, but be inspired by it.

So now that you know what their challenge was on the show, here's our spin on it:

This weeks challenge is sponsored by: CHRISTY TOMLINSON of SCARLET LIME (it's the kit in the large bag with red rose paper in the front). Your assignment is to be INSPIRED. Go to SCARLET LIME'S web-site & check out their amazing project gallery here. You then must complete a layout using her kit (you may add anything to it you want: ribbons, buttons, flowers, etc.), but wait I am not done yet!

By Tuesday (midnight) you must send to lucindafish@cox.net a picture of your layout (doesn't have to be fully completed). We will then randomly send everyone a photo of someone else's layout. You will use the picture we send you for inspiration to create a coordinating embellishment for your own layout. When submitting your entry, please let us know what your embellishment was & whose layout inspired you.

Your deadline is midnight Fri. February 5th.

I am also excited to announce that CHRISTY TOMLINSON of SCARLET LIME is going to be our guest judge for this challenge, so no family/friends voting. So do your best work; no popularity contest!

Challenge #2 entries

Hi everyone,

Well, we never heard back from Tim Holtz (I think he's in Japan or something and super busy I'm sure), so we'll do the regular voting this time. See the sidebar for voting info. I received a couple more entries as well, so enjoy!

***UPDATE: I removed the slideshow from the blog to save memory, but it can still be viewed here.

Voting will close on Saturday, February 6th at 9PM MST.

Vote for Challenge #1 - voting ends 1/30/10 at 9pm MST

Hi everyone,

Here are the entries for Challenge #1 so far. I was going to finish mine last night but my daughter came down with the stomach flu, unfortunately! I'll add mine soon...after I sterilize the house! :)

Make sure to vote (on the sidebar) for your favorite by Saturday, Jan. 30th at 9pm (sorry, you can only vote once!).

We will be (hopefully) having some guest judges for the upcoming challenges so it's not a complete popularity contest (smile), fyi!

Thanks!
Lucinda :)

CHALLENGE #2: 1 POTATO, 2 POTATO, 3 POTATO.........UUHHH.......GRUNGE BOARD!

This week on the show the 15 remaining designers had to go to a POTATO FARM. Their challenge was to design an outfit for their model out of potato sack material! What to do with potato sack material........hmmmmmm: dye it, add buttons, ribbons, lace, cut it up into different shapes, etc.

So here is your challenge: GRUNGE BOARD! This weeks challenge/prize is sponsored by one of Arizona's own
T!M HOLTZ! In your bag you will find a 12x12 & 5x7 piece of grunge board. What would you do with it: paint it, die cut it (Cricut mach. do work, but you may need a heavier blade), dry emboss it (a Big Kick/Shot mach.), sand it, dye it a different color, etc.. It is up to you how you would like to use it: on a scrapbook (single or double) layout or a 3D item. I do recommend you check out his blog for some inspiration, he is very talented & his blog is full of a ton of ideas.

You have until Thursday, January 28th at midnight to email a pic of your layout/3-D item to lucindafish@cox.net! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you all come up with!!!

P.S. LADIES I DO RECOMMEND THAT YOU WATCH THE SHOW (on mylifetime.com) THEY MADE SOME REALLY AMAZING OUTFITS.

CHALLENGE 1: YOU GOT 3 MINUTES.............GO!

This weeks the designers met in Central Park for their first challenge. Mood Fabrics had decorated up a section of the park (park benches, trees, walkways, mannequins ect.) with all different kinds of fabric/textiles for the designers to choose from. Their challnge was for them to grab a much fabric as they could cary in 3 min. & then the had to pick through & eleminate down to 5 pieces what they wanted to use to design their first outfit.

You will be using the kit the has been donated to us by SCRAPBOOK BARN. You will find it in a 12x12 clear envelope & should be at the back of your bag. All kits are different & have a random amount of stuff in them. They all contain: 3 pieces of paper & a small variety of embelishments.

Your Challenge: you have 3 min. to pick what you want to use from the kit (you don't get to use everything) & to use 5 things from your OWN scrapbooking stash.

Witch Party Photos

I know this is sooooo late! But I just had to finally post pics of our super fun witch party at Beth's back in October! We all had a blast!!

This is the cool project we made!

Claudia, Lucinda, Beth
Claudia made this spooky dish to share - it's ribs and a bell pepper on top, but doesn't it look like something from a Snow White movie?
