This week's challenge has a bit of a twist to it. On the show the 14 remaining Designers had to partner up with one their fellow contestants & design a surfer/beach inspired/Avant-Garde outfit.
In case you're wondering, here's the definition of Avant-garde: Avant-garde refers to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics, or in this case - papercrafting!
We thought it might be a little hard to get you ladies together so we put the partner thing aside this time. Lucinda and I thought it would be fun to make your own style (remember, experimental or innovative) of Fashionably Fun Accessory for the beach using papercrafting supplies.
You may use your own stash of supplies, plus you can purchase whatever extra you need (ex: your local scrapbook store, craft store, hardware or fabric store, etc.). Some examples of things you could do are: decorate a pair of flip flops (I want to see more than just ribbon), a hair tie/bow, make a piece of jewelry, decorate a purse, etc.. Don't let this challenge scare you! I have seen some amazing stuff made out of scrapbooking/papercrafting items. Think out of the box, - you can use chipboard for charms or even acrylic & buttons. Let your imagination flow; you will be surprised what you can come up with! I recommend you check out Tim Holtz's website and blog to get inspired - he has made some amazing stuff.
***Anyone can join in since there are no kits for this challenge - the more the merrier!!
As usual, your entry for Challenge #3 - Fashionably Fun Beach Accessory, will be due on Thursday, September 10th. If it's late, that just means less time for your friends/family to vote for you! Email a pic of your entry to Lucinda - her email address is lucindafish@cox.net.
Good luck - can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!
Beth
